I did borrow it and it worked quite nicely. It was easy to point to my F1D and move on/off the model to see the distance change between model and ceiling.

I did not like the fact that it doesn't measure in feet as that is how my brain works. Kind of a minor quibble about an excellent device.

I would look at other products and test them out to find the 'best' one for you.
Others are rated high for the golf market. You might also want to check out the Internet reviews as apparently some units have very low battery life. All are in a similar price range. You do need to make sure that there is an inclinometer - Illegal for golf tournaments, but perfect for us.
