Re: Re: Details and background
Chris,
For what it's worth, my wife's model dangled from virtually every light and girder it could find, but never stuck for more than a second or so. I attribute that partly to the fact that her models seem to have some strange ability to not get stuck, partly to my telling her where to launch, and partly to her flying on torque settings so high that her models literally twist themselves free of almost anything that gets in their way. It's nerve wracking to watch, but somehow it works. For an idea of what we were doing, her 10 minute motor is a .95 g x 9.25" loop of 5/99 wound to .7 in-oz and backed off to .4 in-oz. On that torque, the model spent almost a minute racing around at waste level before climbing away. I believe her prop is 14" x 24". The blades are rather narrow, and she has about 3/4" of wing offset. Her turning circle is very tight.
Good flying,
Joshua Finn
