As someone who has not yet built an f1d, I would much rather build to the 1.2g "old" rules. It just feels like it's being dumbed down and made easier for beginners by using the y2k2 is no longer available excuse. I would much rather have the chance to fly for almost 30 minutes in a good cat 1 site than say 20. F1d is not an event for beginners. Thats why we have lpp. 1.2g is an achievement for the up and coming f1d flier as I will find out soon enough. I will just add ballast if needed and hopefully remove said ballast when (hopefully) the FAI goes back to 1.2g. Or I could just starting flying F1Ms.
