It's not just 200mg that we're talking about here. Once you chop 3 inches
off of your motor stick and replace it with boom, you lose at least another
25mg. Then you have a decision to make on props. In Slanic you need to
use a fixed pitch prop. I think that may be true for even the Kibbie Dome.
That's another 75-100mg drop. So if I modify my models and switch to
fixed pitch I will end up with a model that weighs less than 1.1g. I'm
highly unmotivated to stick a 300mg lump of clay on my model and call it
good.
To me this change is a huge push in the direction of mostly composite
models. For those that have experience with composites this might be a
great rule change. I can envision carbon fiber props, wings, stabs, and
motor tubes all being feasible at 1.4g. I'm not a composites guy so this
change is really bad for me.
