I guess you must be showing your age. The last line was:

“No, don’t mess with mister in-between.” – and I’m older than you!

There's an old song (probably before DD was born) that says "ya gotta accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative".

Like most FFers I have no interest in F1D. F1N is a different story.

Rubbish.

The USA has at least two viable sites for an indoor WC. West Baden and the Kibbie Dome have both put on contests in the past year and both are sites of the previous indoor WC's (1980 and 1996 respectively). Since 1996, all of the indoor WC's have been held in Serbia (Belgrade) or Romania (Slanic). And, if the ETSU basketball moves all of its home games out of the Mini-Dome and the Mini-Dome is renovated in a way favorable to indoor flying, another site that has held past indoor WC's will perhaps be available again. Furthermore, I suspect there are other suitable sites outside of eastern Europe.

A second consideration concerns the possible inclusion of F1N (gliders) in the FAI WC listings. A site that could hold a combined F1N and F1D WC would allow for better turnout with the resulting improved financial aspects. Thus, a site that is good for both F1N and F1D would be the optimum for future indoor WC's.
