While I mean no disrespect to the author of this rules change, this situation was very poorly thought out. We need to accept that the rules change will not bring new modelers into the discipline--anyone attracted by the rise in minimum weight will immediately be put off by the draconian restriction on rubber even before they get a look at carbon props, which will now be the rule rather than the exception.
We must also accept that the new rules will drive away several from our midst. As such, F1D is in a precarious position thanks to ill-conceived ideas being allowed to run the show. An alternative must present itself in order for our hobby to survive. I for one will not be converting my current fleet to operate under the new rules, as I fully expect that this new rules set will prove an absolute disaster at the 2016 W/C, if there even is one. Yes, I'll build a few test models to see what works under the new rules, but that's called survival.
Some will call me a pessimist, but I have serious concerns about anything that is done in competition specifically to destroy the advantage posed by specific participants. And make no mistake, this rule truly looks like what was done with F1B in 1951 and again in 1954. This isn't NASCAR--you can't expect to pull off stunts like this when the participants don't have sponsors.
