And this is take 3 at explaining that F1D being hard is NOT the point. Jake, read my posts. I have repeatedly opposed the idea of changing F1D rules for a long list of reasons. This has nothing to do with rules. It has everything to do with what we say. Mike K posted a joke and you attacked him because you didn't stop to think that it was a joke. The jerk perception stems from things of this nature, and of CD's yelling at participants for violating unwritten rules, and from random competitors yelling at visitors for crossing some invisible line on the floor in the flying site. I came from the FAC crowd where we flew scale models (and yes, they have their own problems), but numerous times when I talked to my FAC buddies about wanting to try F1D, I heard stories of uptight fliers yelling at them, to the point that it put me off for many years about trying F1D, something I now regret and that I suspect many of my flying buddies from back then would also regret but for the fact that all they and I knew was what we had seen and experienced.

And for Don S.'s benefit, you place the blame on those folks if you like, but I always thought they were great guys. And they never yelled at me for violating unwritten rules.

Now let's get productive and work on developing better technology for F1D, flying them where people can be exposed to their beauty, and inspiring the next generation to take the challenge because they just might learn something that could change their lives. That right their is half of why I fly F1D, and it's why I don't get upset when a crowd surrounds me while I'm trying to hook up a rubber motor or someone asks if they can gently touch the covering.
