I flew 55cm for 1 team cycle after the change, before that I flew F1D
all the time. The .6 gram rubber is what initially killed F1D for me.
The smaller 1.2gr models were easier to make but the models always flew
like they were "underpowered" on the way down, I wanted to add more
rubber to fix it but could not due to the restriction. Loucka, Mzik,
and I all stopped F1D shortly after the new rules came into effect.
Climbs to the top of Akron could take up to 18 minutes on 65cm model
then with 55cm they climbed like a Wakefield for one circle at Akron, it
just did not seem right, it took away some of what F1D was for me. I
definitely would have kept flying 55cm F1D if there was no rubber
restriction.
