F1M has been thrown around to some extent as a full technology alternative
to F1D. I think it's worth mentioning that F1M draws considerably fewer
participants than F1D. This discrepancy may be due fact that there are
currently no world championships for F1M. Nevertheless, it may also be due
to the fact there is something about a higher performance model that draws
participants into F1D.

If we consider the comparatively high participation levels in F1L, a
reasonable argument could be made that F1D is more commonly flown than F1M
because of its superior performance. I tend to agree with Don, there's not
much point in owning a Ferrari if you don't get to drive it any differently
than Fiat.
