Could someone please give some information on how much light is needed
in the mine?

For reference, I heard that off-road endurance motorcyclists use 900
lumen headlamps when they drive in the dark; sufficient when the track
is straight but for open fields, where the track is winding, a wider
(and therefore more powerful?) beam is needed.

On the other hand, a friend-of-a-friend has a 3,500 lumen light, but
does not want to borrow it, as he is worried about the (temporary)
blindness that the light can cause if shined to someone's eyes... I
have never heard of such problems in the mine, therefore I gather that
maybe a torch with a single T6 LED (at around 900 lumens) would
suffice for the mine?
