LeoP told me a great way to do this at USIC this year.
I do not want to steal his thunder, it is simple but requires a calculator. And you can easily cut motors to weight/length afterwards.
He convinced me.
I still cut to width, but get the right length for the size loop I want now.
I haven't switched to doing it this way for F1D yet, but I still have a lot of rubber cut to width and already have an idea what loop length each will make.
