In this case, my research is showing that it is. A good covering job can add quite a lot of time to your flight.
I'd recommend doing the gluing from the top surface so as to ensure that you preserve as much of the airfoil as possible across each bay. There are other ways of achieving that effect, but this is the most effective I've tried (and I've tried a lot of ways).
