Re: Wacky flight in Racine last night...
Racine Memorial Hall is 42' to the top. Probably 37-38' usable with the arc shape, the beams along the top and lights. It is a bit small and can be quite drafty. Wednesday night the air was very still for Racine.
Very few real obstructions with a recent light replacement. There are some speakers, the ledge along the edge of the ceiling (Tom Sova's A6 design seems to love the ledge), and curtain cords.
Since LeRoy mentioned it, only one of four full motor F1D flights didn't end up in the wall (or the aforementioned curtain cords). Three bumps in the ceiling that only seemed to center it better each time - pure luck really. Landed at 20:20 with an unmeasured row of knots remaining, so there is still some performance potential there.
Regards.
