Merrill C. Hamburg Trophy

Since Kang has called for a search for a old indoor video, I thought I'd
bring up something else that's lost that I've been wondering about for a
while.

An old INAV from the 80's has a picture of Brown, Banks, and Bud Romak
after the team selection at Tustin holding a trophy that is marked "The
Merrill C. Hamburg Trophy" in the caption. I had never heard of this
trophy, and Steve Brown did not know that much about the trophy other than
it disappeared in the 1990's and that Doig had it at some point.

I emailed the historians at AMA and nothing turned up about the trophy.
Phil Sullivan from NFFS also knew nothing about this trophy. Nor is
anything mentioned in Merrill C. Hamburg's biography on AMA's website.

Any ideas?
