Yeah, that was me.
I made the feathers coarser on the outboard end and finer near the hub, as they'd have to absorb more contortion there. What else happens is that the thinned white glue soaks the balsa and makes the feathers very supple, so that when they spread out, as is their wont, they can easily be pushed back together without breaking. The two plies are laid up at 15-20º apart and everything comes out fine. Once dried overnight, the shape stays permanent.
They're really easy to make, once you have the mold, but very illegal for Hangar Rats.
