Nothing available commercially will work for lower pitch blocks. As you go
down in pitch, the rate that the block rotates is increased. This causes
the block to rub on the back edge of the blade unless you have a very wide
kerf. The best case is you a get a little burning, worst case you bend and
twist the blade which causes an inaccurate cut. I hand set the teeth on a
1/4" blade and I've made blocks that were accurate down to 15" of pitch,
but the cut quality isn't good and they require a lot of sanding and
filling to make the face nice.

For the most part it doesn't matter to me because I make oversize blade
blanks with an airfoil sanded into it. That blade blank with the airfoil
goes against the block and the blade goes on top of the blank. That makes
the surface of the prop block unimportant other than being accurate.

Surface finish does become a problem with built up props where I form the
blade directly on the block. I want a reasonably smooth surface for that.
