So...when discussing the BOM...keep in mind what it is trying to do. Back when the BOM rule was pretty much the standard, juniors made up the bulk of the flyers and daddyo made many of those models..thereby skewing the results of daddy's models having fewer warps, etc and probably flew better...along with daddy trimming them too. Interesting, and as you said, "Times have changed." I tried BAM (Buy a Model) for a few years, buying a couple nice F1bs and flying in Team finals around 1998. Not so satisfying even when models maxed--at least not compared with Indoor Duration, where seemingly everyone built, no one bought. Not only my flights, but the good flights of others acquired a new meaning. Comes down to preference. So why not argue for one's own preference? Everyone else does.

The context of this discussion was the challenge from across the pond that, "No one can write a sensible BOM rule." It's time someone disproved that, whether this goes anywhere or not.
