You do not need vacuum bagging for producing composite parts. I have had
one for ages, but hate to use it as it takes quite some effort to set up
and keep running while the epoxy sets. Therefore I mostly try to figure
out ways to clamp the components together while the epoxy cures. For
instance, the carbon fork for the VP is made on a simple "male" mold
sanded out of a piece of plywood (rounded top edge) and covered in
packing tape. Onto this I wrap a sandwich of carbon-balsa-carbon between
plastic sheets, put another piece of balsawood on top, then use a length
of rubber band to tie the packet tightly against the mold. Put it to a
warm place to set, then dremel the individual forks out of the longer
piece. Easier to do than to write down.
