In practice, in all outdoor FAI FF classes the BOM rule is lifted.
John's previous message indicated why; the line between allowed and
disallowed is drawn in water, therefore the most pragmatic solution is
to lift the rule. In outdoor I do not see much problem in that, as
outdoor FF has a major feature in air picking. Indoors, on the other
hand, is much more about building and trimming the model. Even there, I
would not consider the building of the model as crucial, but if you were
allowed to buy models ready trimmed and adjusted, then there would be
rather little for the flier left to do...
