FAI now refers to them as "sportsman." Maybe indoorists are also labeled sportsmen in FAI literature, I don't know. Perhaps the "hard part" of indoor (VPs) is considered analogous to the front ends of outdoor models--the engine or the prop folding mechanism, which have always been allowed for purchase, even before they rescinded BOM rule.
