Southern Illinois University has a large domed arena. I have no idea what is inside since I haven't been there in quite a few years. If I remember correctly, they could configure the inside for shows in the round and even ice shows. Since I'm an alumni, I'll try to check them out. Major interstate highways, Amtrak, and a commercial airport near by are a plus.

I would add: reasonable proximity to a
major airport. That was one of the downsides of ETSU.
A site in the heartland (NE, KS, southern IL)
would be within driving distance of the entire country. Otherwise I would like
to see to east/west rotation. Indoor has been pretty dead here in the West partly
because of the Nats being held so far away for so long.

Speaking for myself, these are the important factors
1. Site: floor space, height, good air
2. Location: reachable in one-day drive by large part of population
3. 3-5 Days availability
All three are very important.
Parking, hotel, restaurants are minor issues.
