There are two official flights per day, each in a defined four hour launch time interval. Only one member of a team may be in the air at a time. The sum of the best two times out of six possible flights determines the results. A flight ended before one minute is counted as an attempt. Only two attempts are allowed per flight period per competitor. Flights with mid-air collisions or that are fouled by another competitor (such as by a steering line or balloon) may be reflown and not counted as an attempt. There is no testing allowed in the hall during the competition period.

With thirty minute flight times the air is crowded during the time of best air and busy at many other times.
