What do you mean "mechanical"? Like an old fashined odometer? No good, because any actuation mechanism would add friction.

Or do you mean analog, like an 18th Century Grandfather Clock?

I suppose I could work up some sort of thing like an altimeter, with a tens hand, a hundreds hand and a thousands window, all chain driven. Seems a shame, now that I've gotten the winder down to just a hair over an inch thick. If I could do it, and people bought 2 or 3 of them, it'd bump me up into a higher tax bracket.
