Your problem is that you want the event to be one thing, but the rules define it to be something else. You are then trying to use the, "but they meant it to mean..." argument, which has a little issue on the enforcement side of things.

Here's the paradox, though: some people, like the average FACer, simply enjoy flying a model for fun - other people, like you, me, and Don S., enjoy trying to do our best with said model. So, why is it that the fun-flyers get upset with those who enjoy trying to get the most out of a plane?

The answer is, it isn't really a paradox. The fun-flyers don't care! It is only you that cares, and you aren't a fun-flyer.

I grew up flying at Glastonbury. Since you are an FAC aficionado I'm sure you know the significance of that location. I've flown with many FACers. They appreciate an interesting model. The FAC brass will also give you a ration of sh*t over it, because that's what they do. But I've never heard an FACer cry so much about it :)

You are on the verge of having your FAC card revoked - I don't think you are (unofficially) representing them well. You need to stay on the competition side of things :)
