The A6 shootout at USIC continued the year-long A6 drama or 2012 and gave us yet another great show. By now, the news is old, so my recap will be short. Bill Gowen broke the A6 national record twice, culminating in a mind boggling 11:02. Tom Sova put on a superb performance with a flight of 10:15, a time that would have won every USIC except two. I really would like to applaud the competitors for putting it all on the line.
I hope to see the A6 battle continue at Lakehurst over the summer, either the weekend after the 4th of July or Labor Day weekend. The late afternoon buoyant air at Lakehurst may lift the flight time to well over 11 minutes.
If the year-long shootout ends now, then so it is. We've all been treated to displays of mastery by our A6 experts. Thank you Bill Gowen, Tom Sova, Gary Hodson, and Tem Johnson.
