A little bit of silkspan will aid in the rolling. Keep it very wet so it sticks well. I would use blue masking tape to hold it in place and bake at very low temp or air dry, but that is mostly due to using brass tubes to roll with rather than dowel rod. I don't think brass and microwaves would mix well.
