Hey, nothing to it !!! Find a dowel the size you want, cut a length of
1/32 "A" grain just a bit wider than the circumference of the dowel,
soak it for a bit in water and roll it around the dowel with like a
strip of printer paper for backing. Fasten with a few rubber bands (not
too tight) and zap in the microwave for a few minutes. Unrap, run a
razor blade down the overlap to make a tight seam, slide it off and
glue. A caveat, make sure it rolls straight and doesn't go into a spiral.

Easier to use a solid stick but is heavier.
