The AMA EDCOM (Education Committee)is giving some thought to my proposal to host a national "one-design", rubber-powered "postal event" for middle school & high school students. This is in light of the fact that Wright Stuff is slotted to reappear in two years as a competition event in Science Olympiad. It is up to me to create the parameters of design and implimentation of the event. I figured it would be appropriate to ask for some input from the "flying field".

One of the goals is to get the times posted on a link with the AMA EdCom in a safe format so that competitors can show their friends that they have a "National Ranking" [bragging rights?]. I have been assured that the AMA has this capability. It may be a 6-12 month long event.

The other goal is to embark students on appropriate methods of construction that would lend themsevles to SO and AMA/NFFS/FAI styles of indoor aircraft as well as operations.

The slate is somewhat clean but there is a good chance we will stipulate the past commercial props and allow carbon fiber. From there, it is a matter of economics. There will be many levels of approval before an event could be unveiled and may take a year to accomplish. So, here we are at the leading edge and the floor is open...

BTW, there will be a prize system for the top fliers but that will be the last area to receive approval by the AMA.
