When I read Jake Palmer's post I was confused. Why 3 revolutions? It seems to me that if I count any number of revolutions and time how long they take then if I divide the time by the number of revolutions I shall have the average rate of revolution over that period. Something I could do on a hand calculator in seconds.

Now I am afraid that John Kagan's further information has left me even more confused! Can it really produce all that 'revolutionary' information with a single press of a button? Incidentally does it really give the answer in RPM instead of the more useful, to us, rev/sec?

I know the answers will be simple and logical and I shall feel a fool - but please tell me.
