Hi Mike,

There have been several attempts at comprehensive listing of Indoor Contest - the most recent being the Indoor Contest Calendar on the NFFS website (freeflight.org)

Kent and USIC are reasonable driving distances from Chicago IMO, and I highly recommend both. Kent, OH is one day in a great Cat II site (just under 50'). USIC (Johnson City, TN) is 5 days under 116' in super stable air with upwards of 75 contestants.

You should also consider the EAA contest in Oshkosh, WI
