Hey Guys as a follow up I received the Amazon stuff today
first I tried the SE Clipon 3 pc with 1.5x, 2.5x and 3.5x lenses it only cost $3.94 (shipping was more)I wear sort of "harry potter" style glasses so the clip was a bit problamatical. The lenses are rectangular 3" wide x 1.25" deep so it's a very narrow field of view and at higher mags I felt cross-eyed! 3.5x seems too close to the work.
Next up was the Magni-clips a little more expensive and only comes in single mags +1, +2, +2.5, +3 and +4.
The clip on these was more positive and the lens position flips down to the lower portion of my glasses (they're bi-focals) and I could still see over them.
I wont really know until I actually glue my fingers together or lop one off if they actually work.

thanks for everyones kind replies

warmest regards,
martyn
