Looks like my previous reply evaporated - apologies if this comes through as a duplicate.
I think we should work at getting the Kibbie contest going again in its own right. Its a fun contest, and there a people who live close enough to attend it when they might not be able to make it to Johnson City. Having Kibbie available to host USIC / AMA Indoor FF Nats is a side benefit.
I also think we should run out our options with ETSU before we throw in the towel. The site is great, even with the scoreboard. It has good air, and is impervious to the outside conditions. The only options I see are to either persuade ETSU to relocate the banners (the current location was chosen to provide visibility without casting a shadow on the basketball floor - but I think there might be other locations that would accomplish the goal), or to negotiate a better deal with the sign company owner (an R/Cer).
We don't have a whole lot of leverage, I think, but our annual funds might have carry some weight. And, a new site would be fun, but "a bird in the hand..." and all that.

He's not online but I talk to him frequently. Should I inform him that Johnson City is back on, or should he continue investigating the Kibbie Dome as an option?

Recently, their athletic conference mandated that banners of member schools be displayed in the Dome. The location of these ten banners prohibit the administration of our National Contest. Obviously it is too late to search for another venue. The company that installed them has given us a cost to take them down and put them back after the contest - $1,300. As a one-time project, I am confident that we indoor flyers (contestants, and those interested in sustaining indoor building and flying) can raise the money for this "Removal and Replacement" of the banners. A donation in any amount will help make it possible. We need to do this soon. Step two would be to conduct a serious search for indoor space for next year.
