Josh,

The ceiling is really low in this gym. Climbing 20' in 60s is really slow! I launch at .24 in-oz with a smallish prop set at 23" pitch. The prop blades are very thin and flex a good amount. One difference with your situation may be the ceiling height. To get to 25 or 30', the model would probably take an additional 30s, as the climb slows significantly after 20'.

But you are probably right that in such a low site, more flare will help. The prop I used appears to flare a good amount, but perhaps not enough.

Now, I'll make it a challenge to get the right flaring prop to do 6 minutes in this gym flying no-touch or light-touch. I won't fly there for another two months, at least. But stay tuned.

I already miss flying in the mini-dome at Johnson City ....

The best I could do flying conservatively was 5:20. I tried three motor sizes: 1.8g later shortened to 1.6g and 1.1g. The best turned out to be 1.6g (around 13"). In later flights, I backed off less, and the climb to the ceiling was only 30 seconds.
