Overides? If I were CD I would state that the two rules are in harmony, requiring no overiding. You can still have a stab over 50% (in other words, "stab area not restricted",) but overall area of supporting surfaces STILL is, and general rule 3 declare the amount of stab area over 50% is added to wing area.
But I'm not a CD. YET.
