Then again, with more strands you get more rubbing and friction of
strands against each other....

To Bill's comment about using that "waste" rubber: incidentally it seems
that when I cut a 3.2mm (1/8") strip, I get 1.2mm for F1D and the
remainder 2.0mm is just fine for F1M. Or vice versa. Anyway these two go
together well :-)
