A long time ago I recycled the 12:1 belt drive out of a chip making machine. Had a fine pitch toothed belt, precision flanged ball bearings and ground shafts, Open housing was fully machined and hard anodized.
Curt Stevens named it "The $3000 winder". May not have been too far off. Easily handled 1/4" rubber. Smooth as silk.
Unfortunately was lost in a house fire.
Left fond memories,
H

I wonder if anyone has successfully used belt drive instead of gears--especially for high ratio indoor winders.... Stan K

It is an OUTSTANDING tool. It is expertly machined out of aluminum billet with high quality gears.
This is an heirloom piece that would be worth the money at twice the price.

How is the winder from A2Z that costs a little over $200. It looks to be well made and would last a long time. It's a little expensive, but it would be worth it for a high quality tool.
