Traffic to and from DEN is pretty rare. Only a big snowstorm or Friday
afternoon rush hour would present any major problems

The E-470 toll road costs about $6 per vehicle each way to and from DEN to
Colorado Springs.

Denver sounds close, on paper...but it was a hassle and a half to get there.
Tolls, traffic, etc.

extremely cheap there, less than $20 per day. If you share the car with one
or two others, you can save a bundle flying in and out of Denver. I decided
to fly into Colorado Springs for the convenience, and also had no one else
to share the cost with.
