I've kept all my old (such as broken, or too heavy) model parts for 10 or so years, thinking they might be good for something someday. As it turns out, old-run Y2K has been satisfying to recycle for new parts. Best coup so far was this week--I got two new ezb wings covered out of one long retired F1d wing (Y2K2.) Not the prettiest covering job, since you can't avoid the dihedral creases, and other stains or wrinkles from cleaning off old adhesive. Also have to accept small patches at times, but those might eventually happen anyhow. But nice to get a 21 mg pickup for a ezb wing, like the good old days, Try it if you have any dog parts from that era--easy for span enough for props and tails. In the case of wings, I have to flatten out the dihedral, then beef up the old outline with scrap sticks. But the camber will be ready-made.

2. Another new event! Just what we need to dilute the pool, eh? Quote from Chris Borland's newsletter, "Eagle Poop."

<<Andrew and Wally Miller have designed a new class called "1/2 A" (15 sq. in, 50% stab) which is to be a postal contest next year. Think-a mini-stick that looks and flies like a regular model. There no other rules other than .010 oz. (.2835g) minimum weight-meaning things like rolled tube ministicks, VP props and the like. The five models present ranged from 7 1/2 minutes to 11 1/2 minutes with 18 minutes or so projected down the line. Andrew said Larry Coslick (Mr. Light) has built one at .010 oz with a VP prop and loves the class. Break out your 3# block of wood!>>

I like this concept, and hope to try soon, even though I don't do 3 lb wood.
