See there, a relatively local flyer to your rescue, Gert Jan. (Thanks John.) This is often the case, but I didn't want to quiz you about what local research you had done. Even so, you will someday want to have infinite adjustment ability concerning whatever rubber you want, but this is an excellent way to start--help from local flyers. To answer your specifics--an F1d built to correct weight with the usual 19" VP prop for high ceiling will use loops about 9.0" loops or slightly longer. This means approximately .050" X .042 rubber, give or take a couple thousanths, since often the factory thickness will not be 042". For low ceiling flying, go slightly thicker, such as .053 to .055" X 042". I have used as thick as 8.1" loops for low ceiling F1d. (That's about .056" wide, dependent upon factory thickness, often variable.)
