I would love to see this headline in Model Aviation: "So many participants show up at the USIC that the organizers don't know what to do!" or "400 kids invited to fly at the USIC & they all showed up!" or "Carl Bakay looses mind while trying to control 400 kids at USIC." or Carl Bakay reports "Controlling 400 kids is easier that controlling 12 old farts".

Subject: [Indoor_Construction] Fly for free Invitational

Let me be perfectly clear that the words "invitational" and "non-AMA" never came from me. This was Kang's enthusiasm, and he was unaware the topic was so sensitive. I invite and welcome any and all to fly, and I will personally see to it they are well-behaved. We have had more problems with adults than youth.

I will say I will forego the entry fee if there is a problem, meaning I would pay out of my own pocket as a donation, the way we did with many of the Smyrna fliers. For less than what I pay for a pound of Super Sport, everyone can have a good time. But I expect everyone to be an AMA member. Here are my exact words, which were off list,

"Some of the events are AMA and some are non-AMA, or what we call NFFS events. Just fill out the forms and send with your check to the AMA headquarters. If you would like to stay in a Tennessee State dormitory room for only $43.00, send me that form.
"Hope to see you there. Note that if you are a Junior, things are much cheaper."

I don't expect there will be more than half a dozen. I have been as guilty as anyone, but we all need to be real careful when we send something out to 400+ modelers.
