Yes, we probably should glam up the awards process, and I think the Pro-Am is trying to address that need, along with enhanced socialization. The biggest factor is that "they" is merely "us" who sometimes fly. AFTER such a new idea is shown to work, there may be more motivated volunteers (such as to organize two-tier awards, or what have you) but until then then there's no extra funding, manpower, etc, other than us.

Real life--at the end of a long slogged contest, some people rather just hit the road than stick around to listen to awards. Me? wood, glue, indoor doo-dads to win--doesn't get any better than that.
