Ren,
There are two ways that I was taught for doing this. First the safest way is
to tape the strip of wood to a work board with a crisp 90* edge then you can
take a fine emory board and sand in the desired shape. I find that helps to
make your own sanding blocks out of some 1000grit to 1500grit wet dry paper
(always use dry). what I normally do is to take some 1/4" balsa strips and
spray them on one side with 3M 77 and then attach the sand paper to them and
trim it off. This method will give you a very controlled way to shape the
leading edge.
