As seen in any competitive event, it is both impractical and absurd to think
that beginners would play on the same stage at the same time as the experts!
Would you expect an 11 year old kid to pitch 5 innings of the World Series,
or for a 16 year old driver to race the Indy 500? There is a system in place
which allows for beginners to compete against other beginners, and when they
advance they EARN the right to play at the next level.

The problem that I see is the lack of regional events that occur. They
happen once a year at best, and even then there is not enough momentum to
generate a buzz. The USIC is open to anyone, you do not have to qualify to
fly, you just have to register and pay. This puts the beginners in the same
area as the experts. I can not think of another competitive sport or hobby
that works this way. There should be many regional events which will gain
interest for and allow people to practice before heading off to the USIC. I
am not saying that people should have to qualify or earn the right to attend
USIC. They should look forward to honing their craft on the next level.
