Bill, I looked it up and got a tip from Richard Szanti with a web site
for them. You were right the 40 footer is listed as 38.83' - go figure.
I'm gonna order their 43 footer which is actually 42' ???

A caveat - mine won't actually reach 40'. At Colorado Springs I could
touch the ceiling with the butt of the pole about chest high. That
ceiling is supposed to be 37 feet. Also it's more flexible than some of
the pricier ones.
