The various compression ribs work by being stiffer without a
correlating increase in weight.
The Andrews rib does this by putting more material where there is more
stress (the center) and less material where there is less stress (the
ends).
If you did it the other way around, you'd end up with a rib that is
floppier and slightly heavier than its constant depth counterpart.
