Bill Gowen-
Thanks for publishing the LittleSquares plan. Two weeks ago my
daughter Ruth patiently made notes on its features. She is using my
Hi-Espect design and was using a wing camber that was almost dead-on
with your design. She also has twin circular fins formed using a
small glass olive jar. The airplane is ballasted up to 6 grams. She
flies on .087 Tan SS rubber.
Last week she built a new wing with 5% higher camber and had me time
two flights at the high school. At a max of 21'(bottom of scoreboard
box in the gym's center) both flights were over 3 minutes. She was
only using 3/5's max torque on the motor winds. The cruise was over
50% of the flight time. The airplane came down with 10% winds left.
We would both like to know this; she is using the fat Ikara prop
with your suggested modifications. She wants to modify a second
version and have some wash-out on the tips. How does she add this
wash-out and much area should she modify?
The IN state finals are under a 35' clean area with probably an
orbit diameter of 50'+ available. She plans on flying a large orbit
with a slow climb, long cruise and slow descent. Will the added wash-
out help? Should she consider upping the cross section on the rubber
motor?
Thanks,
Tom
