I have never paid a fee or received any plaque for setting world
records. The subject did come up a few years ago in a conversation
with Steve Kaluf regarding my world record submission. As I recall it
had to do with fees AMA was being charged by NAA and maybe partly
connected with a special award or plaque, but I never paid anything.
I don't see any need for an expensive processing or recording fee
since all the documentation has to be prepared by the flyer before
submission.

One might think our national organizations would regard world records
as a matter of prestige which would reflect favorably upon them and
their members but to date I detect no such attitude.

I might be wrong but I dont think there is anyone left at AMA who
knows anything at all about world record processing. For instance,
FAI requires notification of the record within 7 days but to get to
them, it has to go from you to AMA to NAA and to FAI. To get that
done, you need knowledgeable people pushing it through without delay.
I lost one a while back because the AMA person didn't know what to do
with my notification.
