Re: Loss of another indoor great ....
What a privilege it has been to have known Vernon. He was a sweet and
kind, true gentleman…who gave so much to the students of whom he
mentored over the years! Building and flying will never be the same
without his emails of advice, encouragement and even amusement. I hope
he now knows how many people he has touched the lives of and how much he
has meant to all those people.
Vernon always had a positive attitude, even when the going got
rough...whether it was flying related or in real life. My daughter
advised me today that Hack could now watch her and her brother fly
anytime he wanted. I'd like to think he'll be watching over them, as
well as others, still enjoying his passion for flight.
With very sad hearts…our family will miss Vernon's friendship
terribly!
Hugs and God Speed Hack!

Hack on 04/12/1969. The reason I remember this date is that Hack helped
me win my first Indoor Trophy on that day. Hack took me under his wing
and encouraged me to continue in this fascinating hobby. This was before
computers and I guess long distance phone calls were to expensive for us
at that time so we corresponded by mail for some time.My dad and I got
to be good friends with Hack and his son Dale who also flew indoor .
Hack has been instrumental in mentoring many fliers and always had time
to promote the hobby. We'll miss you Hack! Tom Sova
