Thanks for the input. I too have been, (and now that I'm back in
Sacramento), will probably continue to be "involved in one way or
another her with SO." However, I did not put the S.O. issue on the
table (regarding what is welcome on Indoor_Construction), and neither
is it going to be on the table now. From day one (I think) I have
welcomed SO discussion as it relates to or intersects traditional
indoor duration building and flying. That means it's fine to post
about design of Wright Stuff models, how to build Wright Stuff
models, how to trim, wind, handle, fly a Wright Stuff model. All
about Wright Stuff rubber is fine, as is all about support equipment--
winder, strippers, meters, etc. Also, fine to post actual results
that interest you, including contest results. That be heap big info
right there!
Finally, it's also fine to summarize the rules and help others
understand actual, known clarifications about the rules, in other
words, how things apparently really ARE, BUT NOT how interpretations
in one's opinion "ought to be" or "are going to be." Online history
has indicated the wisdom of not allowing the following. The above
(okay items) and the below (not okay item) denote a thematic
difference, IMO, but few of us seem to agree with that, so this won't
please everyone.
Not exhaustive list, but please avoid opinions and postings about:
Proposed future, nonexistent events.
Rules language disgraces.
Personally speculative "clarifications".
State, team, or school politics.
Unfair, corrupt, or clueless SO organization hierarchy.
Unfair or clueless Event Coodinators
Unfair or clueless team coaches.
Unfair or clueless competitors.
Contest Day politics.
The latest accusations.
I suspect there are more Wright Stuff official flights made in a year
than all indoor AMA sanctioned flights made in the same year.
Therefore, these prohibitions are admittedly a "territorial
consideration," meaning S.O. BS could easily overtake this site if I
let it.
BTW, I recently started a mini mailing group for the more
gossipy/sticky/forbidden/speculative topics, most of which I happened
to be interested in. Send email address to join exchange. Nothing
is off topic there. The only inconvenience is to often update your
CC mail list to include new joiners. (16 guys so far.)
Here's links for dedicated groups to discuss (probably) anything SO
related. WS traffic probably increases seasonally.

I used to make the same argument myself, "Just skip over the
irrelevant posts." However, posts often aren't so carefully labeled,
and discussions often morph into different discussions without any
warning or title change. If I bought a book, "Far Side" anthology,
I shouldn't have to turn past pages of "Peanuts" or "Nancy" to get to
what I thought I paid for.
