Making motors to weight...

I just started getting serious about flying F1D and F1M, and now have
the problem of making motors to weight... At first, I wasn't too
concerned about getting them dead on, and just tied them the same way
that I always have, with an overhand knot followed by a square knot
behind it, and can't remember the last time that I had a knot fail...

But now, in sitting down cutting motors to get ready for this season,
I was getting pretty frustrated trying to get to .6g dead on for F1D
motors... I can usually get them to no more than .6g, but get them
tied in a range from .56g to .6g... and the occasional one that goes
over effectively is unusable, since it couldn't be used in competion,
and cutting off or untying the knot makes it way under...

So...... the question is, how does everyone do it...??? I know that
some use thread knots, and I tried that but on some test motors and
winding them, virtually every one failed at the knot... (so at least I
know that I'm doing something wrong there, and I can't seem to find
any good description of thread-knot tying anywhere...)

Anybody that can shed some light on good methods...?

Thanks,

JH
